The stipulation is that all employees who may be exposed to a noise level of 85dB(A) or more for lengthy periods must be made aware of the noise hazard, its effects and the protective measures available.
AudioScreen can help here by providing short, no-nonsense courses to employees (and employers) to ensure that they understand and comply with the Regulations.
Awareness of noise risks, the effects of noise on hearing and how the use of hearing protection can prevent permanent damage.
The noise awareness training will allow employers to meet HSE obligations under Noise at Work Regulations, and will consist of:
Part 1 – The Ear and Hearing
- How noise works and the effect on the ears.
- Detail of how sounds are heard.
Part 2 – Noise Damage
- How it affects the ears and what actually happens in the ear.
- The potential outcomes such as irreparable noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) and tinnitus, plus the effects this has on the sufferer.
Part 3 - Controlling Exposures, and Hearing Protection
- How noise is controlled at work, through the
use of physical noise reduction measures and the use
of hearing protection.
- A detailed look at the types of hearing protection
available and the correct use of them.
Part 4 - Audiometry
- A short overview of Audiometry for employees providing them with some background for the information they will receive in a hearing test.
